New Home

Hello everyone! We are moving! No not the studio…….no not our home…..although it’s pretty cold (it’s like 20 outside right now) these days and somewhere warm might be nice. We are moving the blog!! It has a new home and a couple of new features like a twitter feed – I know scary. The new blog is now located at

www.studio280photography.com

So if you have an RSS feed or you are subscribing by email you may want to update your feed or switch it to the new site. Along with this new site we also be trying to give you updates more frequently along other new features. Stay tuned for more exciting news – but you have to go to the new site to see it – it won’t be here anymore – this will be old news (don’t worry I moved the recent posts for everyone). Oh and let me know what you like or don’t like about the new site.

Thanks for following!

Falmouth Road Race 08.09.09

Well after two back to back weddings I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to the start line on Sunday morning. Bright skies and cool dry air helped get me going that and knowing if I didn’t make it I would be breaking my streak…..this was to be number 5 in a row! It’s one of my favorite races of the year. This time I was going to be sans a few friends that I had run the race before……they didn’t get a number this time, but Kelli and the girls were at their usual spot cheering me on.

Right before the race began I actually ran into Anne & Dan (Wedding from June) they were running the race too! It was great to see them and have someone to chat with before they fired the cannon.

Here is a pic I took with my iPhone of my view of Woods Hole as I walked to the start. Check out the cool video of the race at www.falmouthroadrace.com

A long trip

This year we planned a trip to Florida to visit family and friends in Cocoa Beach as well as spend a few days in Orlando doing the theme parks with the kids. The girls enjoyed their lunch with the princesses in Cinderella’s castle and swimming in the pools at the resort. Kelli and I enjoyed spending some one on one time playing tennis at the resort.

It was great to see many family members and friends while we were there. Unfortunately our trip was cut short with news from Kansas of Kelli’s father passing away after a long struggle with cancer. We left Florida and headed to Kansas to spend a week with family and attend the services. It was a long, tough week saying goodbye to a very important and special man.

This was a portrait I took of Kelli’s dad in 2004 while he was here visiting. John was a great man who devoted many many hours to helping others and with be missed by a lot of folks. He spent a lot of time with his church, counseling prisoners as well as flipping pancakes for the local Kiwanis and of course spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Phoenix 01.10.09

I arrived in Tempe Friday night to hang out with my cousin Janette for a day or so before my next conference. The last time I saw Janette I think we were at the Daytona 500 a few years ago. This trip was really special cause I got to meet one of the newest members of our family her son Austin. He is well on his way of becoming the ladies man. I some how talked Janette into doing a 5K race with me the next morning. I ended up actually placing 30th overall and winning my age group – and yes there where actually others in my age group……..ha! My legs were still sore from my hike a few days before but the air was dry and cool……perfect running weather. Later that day we ventured out on another hike this time to check out the Phoenix skyline.

Thanks Janette for an awesome time!

Vermont Trip 7.19.08

With no wedding on this weekend we thought we might get out of town. When my former college roomate Dave and his wife Katie came to visit us for my 40th we remembered our trips to visit them in VT. I remembered the Vermont Brewers fest Kenny and I stumbled on a few years ago and said…….”wonder when that is?” Turns out it was the one weekend I didn’t have a job. We started making plans. Kenny and his girlfriend Kim came up from Florida. The girls insisted if we are going to VT for beer we gotta stop first for some Ben & Jerry’s. Who am I to argue with that. :-)

Melanie & Kylie got to play at the hotel pool with the babysitter as we walked down to the brew fest then ended up touring church st later that night. It was a great weekend with family and friends.

Hmmm…….photomobile?

Katie gets the first beer of the night.

The crew………me, Kenny, and Dave.

You meet radom people when you go to the brew fest! Told you girls would make the blog. Hope you have fun when you visit the cape for your friend’s wedding.

mmmmm…….beer

Dave and Kenny waiting in line for the next taste. You spend a lot of time in line at this event. Beer line, food line, lines to get in, lines to pee……

What a view! Love Burlington!

Hmmm……Porter or Pale Ale………decisions, decisions

On Monday we went on a tour of a VT farm. Can you name that poop? Hahaha! Reminds me of what my Dad use to say the difference is between city folk and folks that live in the country. Country folk look down on the ground when they are on a farm.

Kelli and the girls after a long weekend. This was our hayride back in the rain on a tour of Shelburne farm

July Updates – Happy Birthday Dad!

Who where does the time go? I’m sorry I have not been keeping up with my blog duties and am very behind. I’ll attempt to catch up but between Amy and I we have three weddings this weekend….:-). I’ll get to everything…. I hope!

My father recently celebrated his 66th birthday last month and Kelli and I drove down to RI to take him out for some chinese food. Before we went to dinner we stopped by the “Seeds of Hope” gardens to take a few images for him. He started the program a few year’s ago to help families in need to get fresh vegetables. My dad has always had a green thumb – kind of a Davis tradition. He also recently got back from Africa where he spent time with his church and spoke to communities in Africa about agriculture and cultivation.

The big bad wolf……and 3 lil pigs

Last week Melanie participated in a live performance at the Falmouth Arts Alive Festival. Guess who was the big bad wolf!

“I’m going to huff and puff………………..”

 Melanie was a real ham……….sorry couldn’t resist

Another Beantown Championship!

Melanie got to witness yet another Boston team winning a championship. Her 6th in her lifetime. Yesterday we had an appointment in Boston so we decided hey while we are here – let’s go to a parade.

I got t-shirts for the girls and we watched as the players and coaches celebrated the 17th NBA championship for the Celtics.

We Beat LA!

KG!!!

That’s right Doc – we are #1

40! Oh-Boy!

So with an off weekend for a change I was looking forward to getting some much needed rest and sleep. It was my birthday this past weekend and I was turning 40 but was not expecting any big celebrations just some quiet time with Kelli, the kids and my parents.

So on Saturday we had plans to go to lunch with my parents after I had a meeting at the studio. When I showed up at BBC my parents were sitting in the bar area – I was thinking that was a bit odd – why were they not at a table? Then I saw my buddy and old roommate from UCF Kenny then Jay and then big Dave (another old roommate who now lives in VT). I stopped cold in my tracks and said “hey what is going on here?” My friend Jay asked if I bought “my backup liver – you’re going to need it” So much for the relaxing weekend with family.

Seems Kelli had been planning something behind my back. When I got back to my house that afternoon there where more surprises including a surprise party with more family and friends including many photographers from here on the cape and beyond. Needless to say I was a bit overwhelmed and embarrassed by all of this but it was a lot of fun.

Getting laughed at by the crowd

Thanks for coming down Dad!

I’m going to have to start planning now to get Kelli back when she turn’s 40 (she still has a few years before that happens!)
